So I’m way late to comment on this, but I honestly do not have any idea what the reference was… on another note, good thinking setting this right next to a dungeon! (First time through, so I’ll see if that comes into play…)
The reference that Sam is talking about is Death’s line “Howard, I demand that you cease your attack!” which is a line spoken by Death in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. And of course the cut to Karen and Becky in panel 4 refers back to the Cerebus Syndrome arc. Hopefully that makes it a little more clear!
